Butterfly Village

Rancho San Juan Revised Specific Plan

On June 5, 2007 Monterey County voters will be asked to decide four ballot measures that will affect everything from the availability of affordable housing and farmers' ability to adjust to changing conditions, remain competitive and stay in business, to the county's ability to pay for roads and other public facilities. A Yes vote on Measure D will make available 339 new affordable homes for the workers of Monterey County and create 236 full time jobs at Butterfly Village on just 671 acres. We urge you to get all the facts and vote NO, NO, YES, YES

On January 12, 2005 The Wall Street Journal published a story about a national study of housing affordability performed by Economy.com. Of 325 metropolitan areas, Salinas was the least affordable place to buy a home. Housing prices are so high people earning the median local income can't afford to buy a median priced home.

In response to this news, the Salinas Californian said in its January 17, 2005 Opinion Section, "Enough lip service. It's time to build some substantial housing around here."

The Rancho San Juan Revised Specific Plan delivers what the Californian called for: new housing in substantial numbers in a mix of prices and types. A development which provides jobs, housing, recreation, flood control and water conservation among many other benefits.

We urge you to cast your vote NO, NO, YES, YES to protect our rights to jobs, housing and respect.
